Why cotton, why India, and why the name Sparrow — three threads of the same story.
Long before it was a colony, India was known across the ancient and early modern world by a different name: Sone ki Chidiya — the Golden Sparrow. Roman traders arriving in search of spices, pearls, and above all, cloth, found a land so prosperous that they had little to offer in exchange but gold itself.
Textiles were never a footnote to that wealth — they were close to its center. The muslin of Bengal, the calico of Gujarat, the cotton fields that fed both, were part of what made the Golden Sparrow golden in the first place. It was cloth, as much as gold or spice, that the rest of the world crossed oceans to buy.
That history is why our name carries more than a passing resemblance to a bird on a globe. It is a deliberate nod to a nation once known by that very name for its wealth — a nation whose single greatest export was never gold or silver, but the humble, endlessly renewable fibre of cotton itself. Sparrow Exports International exists to carry a small piece of that inheritance back out into the world: the same fibre, grown from the same soil, on the same subcontinent that first taught the world what cotton could be.
Every order that leaves our name goes through the same discipline, regardless of size: specifications inspected, production tracked, and quality signed off by our own in-house team before a shipment ever leaves India. That standard doesn't flex for a small first order any more than it does for a repeat container — it's the same team, the same checks, every time.
Tushar and Sahib Kalra grew up inside their family's logistics business, running goods across northern India since 1972. Three generations of moving freight through Punjab, Haryana, Delhi NCR, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh taught them something no export course could — which regions actually make things well, and which suppliers hold up once someone checks. Sparrow is built on that same instinct: source India's best, not just its nearest.

Tushar joined the family logistics business in 2019 and rebuilt its brand and digital presence from the ground up. At Sparrow, that same instinct for direct, transparent relationships shapes how buyers are dealt with — plain answers, real samples, and one point of contact from first inquiry to reorder.

Sahib joined the family logistics business in 2013 and rebuilt its operational backbone — fleet efficiency, delivery networks, performance systems. At Sparrow, that same discipline goes into vetting mills, tracking quality at the source, and making sure every shipment leaves India exactly as specified.
Sparrow is a sourcing company, not a manufacturer. Every mill we work with is independently certified — audited by the certifying body itself, and checked again by our own in-house quality team before a single shipment leaves India.

Certifications shown are held by Sparrow's manufacturing partners and verified independently by their respective certifying bodies, alongside inspection by Sparrow's own in-house quality team on every order.
